My Menu is Set, and Crunch Time Begins Tomorrow…It’s Almost Thanksgiving!

21 Nov

This is it!  Thanksgiving is only three days away!  My favorite holiday on the face of this Earth is almost here, and Thanksgiving dinner “crunch time” begins tomorrow!  Contrary to all practical and popular advice, I have finalized my menu full of recipes I’ve never prepared before (my culinary sick thrill is to try out new recipes for big occasions).  I kept adding new dishes over the weekend (I just can’t help myself!), but I am almost positive this is the final version of my Thanksgiving feast:

Appetizers (I like to have just a few cocktail munchies before we dig in to the main event):

House cocktail: Sunny Anderson’s Bourbon Cider Twist

Dinner:

Dessert:

I’ll keep checking in with you on FacebookTwitter and Google+ during the week with updates and photos from my Thanksgiving prep, beginning with my final grocery shopping tomorrow afternoon.  By the time the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade kicks off on Thursday morning, I hope to be well under control, and enjoying the aromas and excitement of my holiday kitchen.  In the meantime, let me know – are you trying out any recipes for the very first time this Thanksgiving, or am I the only crazy one?

This Month’s Headers: Random Sights from Last Year’s Atlantic City Food and Wine Festival!

10 Jul

Last Friday, I told you how crazy excited I am for the Food Network Atlantic City Food and Wine Festival at the end of this month.  To give you a better idea of why I am so eagerly anticipating the Festival, I am dedicating this month’s header images on Random Cravings to delicious sights from last year’s Festival!  The first is one of my favorite bites from Alex Guarnaschelli’s Farm-to-Table Brunch – her blueberry cobbler with a brown sugar crust and homemade buttermilk ice cream:

This is the full-sized photo of Chef Guarnaschelli’s fabulous dessert.  But take a look at the top of my home page – since the header only allows me to feature a small portion of a photograph, I chose to feature the best part of this cobbler – where the creamy, homemade buttermilk ice cream began to melt into the warm blueberries and crisp brown sugar crust, turning the whole dessert into soul-satisfying, homestyle, made-with-love decadence!

Each week I will change the header at the top of my home page to feature a different delicious sight from last year’s Festival…I hope it whets your appetite for what is to come this year!
